ISRO Set to Launch 36 OneWeb Internet Satellites with LVM-III Rocket on March 26

OneWeb Internet Satellites- On March 26, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is set to launch a second batch of 36 OneWeb satellites from Sriharikota aboard India’s most powerful launch vehicle, LVM-III. This constellation will be carried into space by India’s most powerful rocket, LVM-III, which will carry it beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

This mission, which will launch 36 OneWeb Internet Satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO), will complete the deployment of the UK-based company’s Gen-1 network. OneWeb highlighted the partnership between the UK and Indian space industries by noting this as their second satellite deployment from India. Previously known as GSLV Mk-III, LVM-3 launch vehicle now goes by LEO since it won’t be deploying satellites into geosynchronous orbit.

OneWeb satellites orbit in low Earth orbit (LEO), at an altitude of 1,200 kilometers above the equator. This mission marks the 18th launch for OneWeb Internet Satellites, completing their initial constellation around Earth. Recently, SpaceX conducted their 17th launch with 40 internet satellites using Falcon-9 rocket technology; their next launch is scheduled for 9 am Sunday from Sriharikota.

Last year, OneWeb had to cancel a planned launch of 36 broadband satellites onto Russia’s Soyuz rocket after Dmitry Rogozin ordered that these satellites not be used against Russia. As a result, OneWeb secured new rocket agreements with Indian Space Research Organisation and SpaceX in order to complete its initial constellation of 588 satellites – providing global broadband coverage.

On March 26, ISRO plans to launch 36 OneWeb internet satellites using India’s heaviest launch vehicle, the LVM-III. This mission showcases the strong collaboration between UK and Indian space industries and will complete deployment of OneWeb’s Gen-1 network.

Despite facing setbacks due to geopolitical tensions, OneWeb has managed to secure new partnerships with Indian Space Research Organization and SpaceX in order to continue its mission of providing global broadband coverage through an initial constellation of 588 satellites.
